ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER THE NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (NEC) CONFERENCE ON 26 SEPTEMBER AT 8.00 A.M. AT THE SEAT OF NEC

On 26 September at 8.00 a.m. at the seat of the National Electoral Commission another press conference on the Election Day for the Parliament and the Senate of the Republic of Poland was held.

The following participated in the conference:

Chairman of NEC Judge Ferdynand Rymarz

Judge Andrzej Mączyński,

Judge Tadeusz Żyznowski,

And

the Director of the Legal Unit and the Organization of the Elections

Bohdan Szcześniak

The conference was held by the Judge Ferdynand Rymarz who made the announcement of the National Electoral commission about the partial unofficial results of the election to the Parliament and Senate of the Republic of Poland established at 7.35 a.m. on 26 September 2005.

On the basis of the information concerning the results of the voting received electronically from 15 058 polling stations, constituting 59.84% of total number of the polling stations, the National Electoral Commission announces that the partial unofficial results of the election concerning the number of votes cast for the lists of particular election committees established on the basis of the data received from these polling stations are as follows:

1. The number of eligible voters was 17 342 849

2. The number of voters to whom the ballot cards were issued was 6 806 442

3. The turnout was 39.25 %

4. The number of valid ballot cards was 6 797 435

5. The number of total votes cast on all district election lists countrywide was

8. Assuming that the information concerning the results of the voting in 15 469 polling stations constitutes the basis for establishing the results of the elections to the Senate of the Republic of Poland, the mandates countrywide would obtain the following electoral committees:

The Chairman of the National Electoral Commission announced that as far as the percentage value is concerned, the results are authoritative, yet one should refrain from hasty comments on the number of the obtained mandates.

The Chairman of NEC said that the next announcement concerning partial unofficial results of the election will be made by the National Electoral Commission after receiving the information from 90% of the polling stations.
