ANNOUNCEMENT
AFTER PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE SEAT OF THE NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (NEC) IN
WARSAW
On 9 October 2005, at 8.10 p.m. at the
seat of the National Electoral Commission at Wiejska Street a press conference
was held concerning the Elections for the President of the Republic of Poland.
In the conference participated the
Deputy Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Judge Jan Kacprzak, and a
member of NEC, Judge Andrzej Kisielewicz.
The deputy
Chairman concluded that this year’s elections were worthy and peaceful, most
peaceful since the first Presidential Elections in 1990.
There were
three cases of drunk persons among members of the electoral commissions, three
individual cases of disturbance of the course of election by drunk voters, and
tearing the national flag from two seats of the electoral commissions.
Judge
Kacprzak informed that two polling stations will be opened till 9.00 p.m. – the
polling station no. 1 in Skibina, where a stamp was lost, and the polling
station no. 11 in Orzesz, where a 72-year-old woman died.
In addition,
it was announced that the oldest voter taking part in this year’s election was a
105-year-old woman who arrived at the polling station in person and cast her
vote.
Another
conference during which the results from 10% of the constituencies will be
announced will be held between 11 and 12 p.m.
