ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER THE PRESS CONFERENCE HELD AT THE SEAT OF THE NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (NEC) IN WARSAW

 

 

On 24 October 2005 at 00.30 a.m. a press conference on the second round of voting in the Elections for the President of the Republic of Poland was held at the seat of the National Electoral Commission in Warsaw at. Ul. Wiejska.

The following participated in the conference:

 

Deputy Chairman of NEC                                                       Judge Jan Kacprzak

 

Member of NEC                                                                   Judge Stefan Jaworski

                                                                                               Judge Włodzimierz Ryms

and

Head of the National Electoral Office               Minister Kazimierz Czaplicki

 

The conference was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of NEC Judge Jan Kacprzak, who presented an NEC’s announcement on partial results of the Presidential Elections.

00:15 p.m. on 24 October 2005

On the basis of information obtained electronically on the results of the second round of the elections at 22 988 precincts constituting 91.35% of the total number of precincts, the National Electoral Commission announces the unofficial results of the elections which in regards to the number of votes cast on individual candidates are the following:

1)    number of eligible electors was 27 489 799;

2)     number of ballot cards issued 13 995 380;

3)     turnout was 50.91%;

4)    number of valid votes cast nationwide was 13 851 013;

5)  number of valid votes cast on individual candidates was:
